Does a higher rate of vaccination against COVID-19 correlate to a more positive outlook toward COVID-19 vaccines?

February 2021- April 2021

The goal of this analysis was to explore the relationship between public sentiment regarding COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination rates. Public sentiment toward COVID-19 vaccines could be determined at least in part from Twitter postings. Data for total daily vaccinations by country was available in a Github repository by Our World in Data. This analysis was chosen as a general interest due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on our global world. Given the historic speed with which COVID-19 vaccines were developed, vaccine hesitancy has been discussed by scholars and in the media as a potential obstacle to eliminating or controlling the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Other factors, such as mistrust of government or authority, have also been mentioned as contributing to vaccine hesitancy [1]. The hypothesis was that as vaccines become more available and as more people are inoculated, public sentiment toward COVID-19 vaccines will become more positive.

KLC Greens

January 2020 - July 2020

I had just finished my degree in Technology Management from NAIT and the early phase of COVID-19 hit which caused community lockdowns across Canada. During the lockdown, I stumbled upon an article from the MIT Technology Review about a unique way to grow roughly 1.5 acres of food in a retrofitted sea-can using LEDs, hydroponics, and specialized HVAC. My curiosity got the best of me and I asked myself if there was a feasible business case for this type of innovation in my home town. This to me seemed like a well-timed idea due to the broken food supply chain across North America due to COVID-19. With further research, I even found that Elon Musk’s younger brother Kimbal used multiple Freight Farm’s to grow his produce for his restaurants. This led me to read more to see if this magic box would be feasible from an economics and business perspective.

Indigenous Storytelling Project

September 2019 - April 2020

The Indigenous Storytelling Project’s purpose was to help bridge the cultural understanding gap between non-Indigenous and Indigenous Peoples across Canada and to provide a platform to store traditional knowledge and share stories while involving interactive learning. The main vision is that Canada will spend the next 150 years creating information instead of extracting information from First Nations communities. Research indicated that there is a knowledge gap affecting Canada where generational knowledge is being forgotten, this project would aim to help solve this problem by helping the communities within Treaty 6 in Alberta retain and create information.
